First State to Legalize Online Casinos

The first place to have a legal casino in the United States was Nevada. It has even become the first state where online casinos for gambling are also legal. The bill making it legal was passed on June 4, 2001. The bill provided laws which all companies should follow if they want to operate an online casino. It states that the company should have a license which will cost five hundred thousand dollars. The license should be renewed which will also cost two hundred fifty thousand dollars. This should be the first step to be a legitimate company offering online gambling games.

The law passed has since authorized a board which controls the games to analyze the systems. The board will assure that every website will not allow players under eighteen to play. They will also monitor each system and enforce the regulations.

Manufacturers of the equipments which will be used by the online casinos should also be licensed. They should pay two hundred fifty thousand dollars to be issued a license. There is another payment of one hundred thousand dollars for the assessment of the device they produce. Other equipments should also have a license and it costs fifty thousand dollars.

However the bill was passed but the Department of Justice has not yet made gambling online legal. The lawmakers have just approved the bill. There are new problems arising because of many online casinos on the net and soon the government can alter its decision.

The bill was voted because there is new structure working for the legislative body of Nevada. They don't work full time anymore. They would meet after two years of their last meeting so it was made in expectation of problems arising in the online casino industry soon. They thought that establishing the guidelines would help illegal activities for online casinos. The bill stated that the casinos online should pay taxes which should be six percent of their gross profit. This would be paid to the state they are licensed to operate.

There are other gambling activities available online like betting on horse races, sports matches and lotteries. There are experts who have predicted that the online gaming industry will continue to grow. The government of the United States will certainly make more laws to ensure companies still pay their taxes and do business in a fair manner.
